Born and raised in Denmark, but with an urge to explore the world of music – Vini left Denmark in 1987 and for the next 5 years to come. Her first stop was Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. Here she studied, toured and recorded with some of Brazil’s finest artists/musicians – Hermeto Pascoal, Paulo Moura, Jacques Morelenbaum, Nico Assumpcao a. o...
Next stop was New York. Here she studied at “New School of Music”. She had her own quintet with the bassplayer Gregory Milton Jones and worked in many different constallations a. o. with Cidinho Teixeira, Café, Romero Lubamba, Vana Gierig, Miguel Kertsman..
1992 she returned to Denmark to the love of her life!
Same year she received the prize “Jazz Musician of the Year” in Fyn as first – and the only – woman ever.
She has worked with Hermeto Pascoal throughout the years, where she has been a guest soloist at a. o. “Blue Note” – New York, “S.O.B.’s” – New York, “Regatta Bar” – Boston, “Iron Horse”, Springfield, “Montmartre” and “Copenhagen Jazzhouse” – Copenhagen.
1993 She was a soloist with Hermeto Pascoal and the “Danish Radio Big Band” with his compositions for voice and big band, transmitted live to 40 different countries.
Through 10 years she worked with the brazilian bassplayer Jorge Degas as a duo and trio with a.o. Mehmet Ozan, Bob Moses and Robertinho Silva. They have toured and recorded in Brazil several times and in Europe. 1997 they released the CD “Soulrhymes” at the german label “Traumton”.
For the past many years she has “specialized” in Duke Ellington. She has performed in churches throughout Denmark with his “Sacred Concerts” and interpretated some of his greatest hits with big bands.
She plays trio with “Salmefantasier” (Morten Nordal, Per Rasmussen and Guy Moscoso). – They interpret old danish hymns in new arrangements. 2005 they released the CD “Jul”.
Released solo-CD recorded in Rio de Janeiro “Silent Caravan” in 2005.
Just finished the recordings with Thomas Clausen, Thomas Ovesen feat. Robertinho Silva, to be released October 2007 at “Music Mecca”.
